Last month I succumbed to one of my guiltiest pleasure, I devoured a little commercial best-seller called CRAZY RICH ASIANS. Transported into the universe of the world's richest, Kevin Kwan let's us into the crazy rich's little secrets. How to dress? What do they eat? Where do they live?
The typical yachts and private jets were at the rendez-vous although what got me most excited was the description of the quintessential black and white Balinese houses in Singapore. These colonial masterpieces built in the late 1800's, early 1900's, are fondly called the Black-and Whites. These two-story villas, have a very unique style, mixing tropical and British flavors. Only 100 of those mansions are privately owned while the rest are available for rent mostly to expatriates. As you may have guessed they are all in very high demand. Featured in the Architectural Digest many times before, these little treasures are worth discovering...
